Legacy

One man's voice.
One man's stand for truth.
The enemy, satan--not the 22-year-old who pulled the trigger, tried to silence Charlie's voice. But he can't silence the legacy that Charlie left behind. Even if the internet were to go dark tomorrow and the videos be scrubbed from the net, the man's legacy lives on in the lives of the millions he touched around the globe.
So that brings me to your voice and my voice. If OUR voices were to be silenced today, what legacy have we left that would continue to speak to the generations to come?
Charlie Kirk never backed down from the truth, and yet he also had an attitude of respect for those who disagreed with his viewpoints. That took the practiced and disciplined spirit of someone who did not allow someone else's offense to offend him.
I'm using this shot heard 'round the world to reflect on my own life and my witness for Christ. I know that I need discipline and practice in allowing the peace of God to operate in my emotions. I've always been way too emotional when trying to engage in conversation or debate with someone of differing views. Yet, that's one of the main areas that the Word of God warns us to control. I started to say that I want to be more like Charlie...and that may be true...but what I really want is to be more like Christ.
...to allow the Holy Spirit to operate fully in my life.
...to have the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control - Galatians 5:22-23) operating so strongly in my life that neither offense nor the "flustered defense mode" can gain a foothold.
Ephesians 5:9 tells us that "...the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;"
Romans 12:2 tells us, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
As society lashes out with hatred, division, offense, and strife, so much more do we need to reflect the face and glory of God.
We read a description of Moses in Exodus 34:29-35 of after he came down from Mount Sinai after God gave him what we call the 10 Commandments:
"29 When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant,[a] he wasn’t aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the Lord. 30 So when Aaron and the people of Israel saw the radiance of Moses’ face, they were afraid to come near him."

It goes on to describe how the radiance was so bright and continued on Moses that he had to cover his face with a veil unless he was speaking directly with the Lord.
What would the impact of our lives look like if we spent so much time with God that our faces literally glowed from the glory?

I know, we have jobs, families, church, school activities, etc., etc. But if we are honest with ourselves, couldn't we prioritize even a few minutes more with the One who died to pay the price for our sins, all because He wanted to spend Eternity with us?
I think the answer to that question is yes...at least for me. What do you think?

About Me

My photo
My life is a living testimony of God’s redeeming power. Surviving a failed abortion, childhood abuse, rejection, & years of brokenness, I know firsthand the depths of despair and the heights of God’s healing grace. Born again & filled with the Holy Spirit in 1980, I stepped into a lifelong journey of ministry that has taken me from youth and women’s ministry to street evangelism, prison outreach, disaster response, and missions work in Uganda. Over the years, I’ve co-founded two non-profit missions ministries, and have served in leadership roles across churches, training centers, and nonprofit organizations. Through every season — from healing after divorce to finding restoration in my marriage to my soulmate, Tim — I have strived to remained faithful to my calling to share the love of Christ with the broken, the hurting, & the overlooked. Today, I continue to minister through writing, podcasting, inmate outreach, and evangelism, blending my own testimony with biblical truth to help others find hope, freedom, & identity in Christ. Tim and I live in NE Tennessee, where our home is filled with faith, family, creativity, purpose...and cats, chickens, & turkeys!
